In 2003, Fagerdala acquired the worldwide patent rights to a foam insulated ship- and yacht hull system. At the same time was acquired the only existing proof of the technology, the M/Y United Spirit, a legendary Swedish luxury yacht originally built in 1934 by industrialist Torsten Kruger but rebuilt with the new hull system in 1990. Only by having this “proof of concept” it was possible to achieve class certification in 2007. The insulating Fagerdala Hull System is therefore today well proven and offers substantial advantages and opportunities ??compared to traditional hull solutions. This includes a patented system for the utilization and transportation of the energy contained in the cooling water of nuclear plants, towed by special barges to connecting ports of regional distant heating networks. Also for the creation of large floating windmill farms at sea, in certain stabilizing configurations, the Fagerdala Hull System offers important construction and maintenance features.
