CADIC was founded in 1988 at Uvira, a small city located in the Province of Soht-Kivu (in the DRC) at the border with Bujumbura the capital of Burundi. CADIC’s objectives are to: stimulate the use of renewable energies and the ovens of a high energy output in both rural and urban areas; acquaint nationals with the environmental. The mission of CADIC is to alleviate poverty and to enhance the quality of life throughout the DRC by empowering Congolese Women to raise their standard of living through self-sustaining solar home systems for lighting, health centers and schools. During its 15 years of existence CADIC has been working hard to fight deforestation, erosion and promote the use of renewable energies and the stoves of a high energy output. CADIC has organized the National Consultation of Congolese NGOs preparatory to the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNICE) held in Rio 1992. A delegate of CADIC participated in the RIO Summit.
